You Were Wearing A Dress?!!!

September 29, 1985 the Meridian Police Department staged a raid on the club Talk Of The Town (preceded Ollie Mae's/Crossroads) and arrested four people on a city ordinance originally from 1902 which stated that you could not wear clothes of the other sex. It was a pure case of harassment and it did literally become the "Talk of the Town". Those involved fought back legally and in the end the charges were dropped and the law was changed. Today Crossroads has Drag Queen shows every Saturday night and often holds pageants. Sometimes no matter what the odds you can make a difference.
